Muhammad Ali Jinnah - Founder of Pakistan

Muhammad Ali Jinnah was born on 25th December 1876 and died on 11th September 1948. He was a lawyer, politician and the founder of Pakistan. Jinnah was the leader of All India Muslim League from 1913 till the day Pakistan received Independence on 14th August, 1947. He served as the first Governor General of Pakistan until his death in 1948. Muhammad Ali Jinnah is known as the father of the nation in Pakistan and his birthday is considered as a national holiday.

In 1940, Jinnah believed that Muslims in the Indian subcontinent should have their own separate state. The same year, Jinnahs Muslim League passed the Lahore Resolution where they demanded for a separate nation. In the course of Second World War, the Muslim League gained power as the leaders of Congress were imprisoned. The elections took place after the war and most of the seats were reserved for the Muslims but unfortunately Congress and Muslim League were unable to create a power sharing deal for the subcontinent to unite as one state. Later, all leading parties agreed to the independence of a Hindu India and for a Muslim majority state called Pakistan.Jinnah being the first Governor General of Pakistan worked really hard to establish the government and policies of the new nation. He helped millions of Muslim migrants who were immigrated from India to Pakistan after independence. Just after a year of independence of Pakistan from the United Kingdom, Jinnah died in 1948 at the age of 71. There are several streets, colleges, universities, localities in the world named after him as he left a deep and respected legacy in Pakistan.
