Musical.ly: Lip Syncing App That Has Become The Hottest Trend

Musical.ly is a Chinese social media platform that lets you create, share and live broadcast videos. The first prototype of the app was released in April 2014 and the final version was launched just a few months after that in August. Just when we thought Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat were enough of the social media networks to sign up to, Musically created its own space amongst teens with millions of  users expressing themselves through the app daily.

With the help of app, the users can make videos that last from 15 seconds to 1 minute. They also choose soundtracks that goes with the video along with other features such as speed options like fast, normal, epic, slow motion and a range of pre set filters and effects. The app also lets the users to browse any popular content, famous people, trending sounds, songs and hashtags. On July 2016, the app reached 90 million registered users with a total of 12 million new videos posted each day by the users. The app reached a total of 200 million users by the end of May 2017. More than 10 million people use the app daily and the same amount of videos are posted daily on the app. The headquarters of musical.ly is located in Shanghai, China and they have offices in California and San Francisco. Bytedance Technology Co. acquired Musical.ly Inc on November 9, 2017 for a billion dollars.
