Osa Peninsula: A Unique Guide To Costa Rica's Corner

Jutting into the large sea at the southern end of the Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, the unique Osa Peninsula is situated and remains one of the country’s mostly remoted destinations. That suggests that this wild region is worth of the trip: exploring the vast rainforest which shelters Costa Rica's largest and biggest remaining population of living jaguars and tapirs, surf the cerulean waves along the peninsula’s point towards south, or taking a boat ride through its enormous expanse of mangroves.

The peninsula of Osa is also considered a great place for getting a glimpse into Costa Rica’s past tht is former gold mining villages introducing visitors to the rural Tico life and also to the enormous pre-Columbian stone spheres it continues to baffle archaeologists.

Parque Nacional Corcovado

Parque Nacional Corcovado is one of the Costa Rica’s star attractions and also takes up almost half of the Osa Peninsula and is also home to an astoundingly diversified range of wildlife which also includes the highly endangered giant anteater, harpy eagle, tapir, and all of Costa Rica’s big cats. Whether one access the heart of the park by a grueling day hiking along one of its two main jungle trails, the coastal La Leona to Sirena and the mountainous Sirena to Los Patos, or arriving by boat for exploring the shorter trails around the Sirena and San Pedrillo ranger stations, wildlife sighting is guaranteed.

There’s also a new, short trail loop that ranges from Dos Brazos which also gives visitors a quick taste of the park.
