Owls - The Mischievous Hunters
Editorials News | Feb-17-2018
Have you ever seen eyes from ears? Unusual. Isn't it? But for the northern saw-whet owls (Aegolius acadicus) it is a case of extreme evolutionary adaptations so much that it made them superb and successful as night-time hunters, revealed McCormac to Live Science.
The northern saw-whet owls are very tiny in size and their body weight hardly ranges till 151 gms. 5% of the total body weight comprises of their eye weight. The ears of these owls are comparatively bigger than most other of its contemporary similar species and it is what that makes it easier for it to locate their prey accurately. Time immemorial, this silent little bird known by its wisdom has always fascinated men and men influenced by myth started to make his own stories. Some consider it as an evil omen while some believes it to be a bird that brings luck and wealth. For me, it will always remain a cute little bird of wisdom.
