Chess is a game that can exercise brain which is the most crucial organ in our bodies. The Chess Grand master Bobby Fischer made it recognized in the 1950s and 1960s. Chess promotes brain growth. It can stimulate the growth of dendrites which are the bodies that send out signals from the brain’s neuron cells.
It is known that chess helps to exercise both sides of the brain. A German study showed that when chess players were asked to spot chess positions and geometric shapes, then their both the left and right hemispheres of the brain became highly active. Chess helps to prevent Alzheimer’s. It is very important to give brain a workout to keep it healthy and fit. A study was performed on 4,000 Venezuelan students which showed a significant rise in the IQ scores of both the genders. Thus, playing of chess helps in improving IQ too. Chess enhances creativity and increases problem – solving skills.
