Editorials News | Dec-09-2016
The scientists from NASA have revealed the icy facts on Pluto’s surface. As per the reports by the scientists a huge, craterless plain has been captured by NASA’s ‘New Horizons’ spacecraft. In the images, a vast, hollow-less plain has been captured by the NASA spacecraft. As per the analysts, the captured images have revealed the existence of the newly discovered feature on Pluto. The scientists have stated that the craterless plain appears to be no more than 100 million years old, and is possibly still being shaped by geologic processes. Additionally, the frozen region is located in the north of Pluto’s icy mountains and in the center-left of the heart feature added the scientists.
The icy region is north of Pluto’s icy mountains, informally named “Tombaugh Regio” (Tombaugh Region) after Clyde Tombaugh, who revealed Pluto in 1930. The scientists have also suggested an informal name for the fascinating icy plains region of Pluto. As this reason resembles frozen mud cracks on Earth because of this the region has been named as “Sputnik Planum” (Sputnik Plain) by the scientists.
