Pregnant Mothers Must Resists Sleep Disorders

Pregnant mothers should highly take care of themselves and try to avoid getting in the trap of sleep disorders like sleep apnea and insomnia. According to an analysis of California births, pregnant women who are diagnosed with sleep disorders appear to be at risk of a preterm delivery.

The research was conducted by researchers at UC San Francisco. 14.6 per cent of women diagnosed with a sleep disorder delivered child before 37 weeks’ gestation. The study found its prevalence of preterm birth when those 14.6 per cent got compared to 10.9 per cent for women who were not facing sleep disorders and delivered after full maturity. The probability of early preterm birth before 34 weeks was more than double for pregnant women with sleep apnea. It was nearly double for pregnant women with insomnia. The authors said that complications are severe among early preterm births.

The way to reduce preterm rate is treating sleep disorders during pregnancy. It is about 10 per cent in the United States which is more than other highly developed countries.
