Shooter Manu Bhaker Is All Set To Aim At Asian Games 2018

Manu Bhaker, India's 16-year old sensations, is all set to take aim at the ongoing Asian Games 2018. She belongs to Goria village of Haryana that is just a tiny red dot on the Google Maps. But when you make ten concentric rings around that center and aim it from 32 feet, that is what Manu Bhaker would be aiming for at the championship from the sight of 1.5kg-4.5 calibre. Her journey from the village to the prestigious championship has been more or less like the smooth curves of the highway where she is yet to reach her destination.

Her village is one of the examples of area where violent agitations, less sex ratio, honor killings, male domination and religious orthodoxy are quite common. But this is her world along with her parents and their remarkable parenting. They have truly stood up for the dreams of their girl child and given her two most important things: roots and wings. The day she was born, her mother had already decided to give her the full freedom she deserved and not give in to the societal pressures. Her mother is the principal of a secondary school in Goria and her father is an engineer at merchant navy.

From an early age, Manu showed an incredible interest in sports. She has played many tournaments in the field of karate, boxing, skating and kabaddi. But the one that caught her full attention was shooting. And now she is competing at the Asian Games all set to make her village and Indian proud. All we have to do is wait for the results.
