Social Justice

As a member of a society, each member should have all the equivalent rights, opportunities, and fairness within. The concept of social justice is society's fairness. “Social justice describes the extent of fairness that exists in society” (Segal, 2010, p.14). All members of society have the proper to the present level of fairness. the outline, during which our society upholds social justice, unfortunately, isn't what we all live by. There are problems with inequality for hundreds of years like oppression, discrimination, and prejudices.

Fairness has not been our strong point among one another. The govt has the task of creating certain that those laws are set in situ to guard those when conflicts of social justice arise with attaining fairness, same opportunities, and rights. “But the govt may be a reflection of the majority’s will, so there has been and continues to be a struggle to realize social justice in our society” (Segal, 2010, p. 93). For this reason, social justice has been essential and relevant to welfare work practice. welfare work practice will bring forward those that will advocate, and help to line policies in situ to assist protect, promote, and advance change for those individuals that struggle with having equivalent rights and basic human needs that each one needs to have as a member of society.

Social workers should remember the impact of the political arena on practice and will advocate for changes in policy and legislation to enhance social conditions to satisfy basic human needs and promote social justice (Segal, 2010, p. 70).

Social work practice works towards changing social conditions, an important part of that change is taking the responsibility to enhance the welfare of our society.

Who is liable for people’s well-being, individuals, or society? The responsibility of a person’s well-being is societies also as an individual. As a member of society, we've social obligations when it involves social issues and or problems on behalf of society. Community programs, religious institutions, for-profit and non-profit organizations are within the business of promoting and supporting the well-being of people as an individual, however, from a welfare work perspective, some would beg to differ when it involves a for-profit organization working toward the well-being of others for it's a personal service. For-profit agency's focus is to take advantage of the services they supply and that they provide it from a business principle, therefore albeit a private may have the service they possibly won't receive it if they can't afford the value of service. Their mission and therefore the concerned drive non-profit social services and care of these, they serve, despite the value. From a welfare work perspective, this is often ideal for anyone who can get the service needed, and knowingly the client goes to urge the simplest care possible.
