Sunita Williams and Her Amazing Space Achievements
Sunita Williams who is also known by the name of Sunita Lyn sunit Williams is a woman with rare qualities. She was born on September 19, 1965, in Euclid, Ohio, to Indian American neuro-anatomist Deepak Pandya and Slovene American Ursuline Bonnie Pandya.
Sunita is an American astronaut and United States Navy officer of Indian-Slovenian descent. She is married to Michael J. Williams, a Federal police officer in Oregon. Sunita was commissioned an ensign in the United States Navy in May 1987. She was designated a Basic Diving Officer after a six-month temporary assignment at the Naval Coastal System Command. Record for total seven spacewalks by a woman and most spacewalk time that is of 50 hours, 40 minutes is achieved by her. Sunita Wiliams was selected as an astronaut in 1998 and of two space missions Expeditions 14/15 and 32/33 by NASA. She completed three spacewalks from the ISS with Michael López-Alegría on January 31, February 4, and February 9, 2007. The camera became untethered, may be because the attaching device failed, and floated off to space before she could react, during one of those space walks. On April 16, 2007, she became the first runner of the space marathon.
At present she is assigned to the cadre of astronauts who are training to fly the initial test flights for America’s first commercially built spacecraft the Boeing CST-100 Starliner and SpaceX Dragon. Sunita Williams is the perfect example of strong will and determination.
