Tanmay Bakshi: Teacher, IBM Programmer, TEDx Speaker All At The Age of 14

For 14 year old computer prodigy Tanmay Bakshi, who is a cognitive developer, a teacher, author, speaker at TEDx, his journey started when he was barely seven years of age, as he was fascinated by the computer and its operations. His father Puneet Bakshi who himself was a computer programmer for many years, understood his son’s curiosity and started teaching him basics of programming language. Young Tanmay slowly but steadily started cracking C, C++ and Java.
At the age of 7 Tanmay set up a YouTube channel where he not just teaches the magic of decoding programming but also speaks about careers on it. The channel has about 2.8 lakh subscribers of all age. By the time Tanmay was 8 years old he had learned iOS development and we went ahead to launch his first iOS app, tTables within a year. Further down the lines he has developed several other apps using Watson such as tTables PLUS, tID Vault, tGuess and I Can, We Can. He is also working on open-source projects like AskTanmay, which the world’s first IBM Watson- powered web based Natural Language Question Answering system or NLQA.
Tanmay aspires to reach and help aspiring coders and is very passionate about using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help people with special needs and disabilities.
Tanmay is also a writer and has already published a book and the second in underway. He has spoken for IBM Watson summits across the globe including countries like Finland, New Zealand, Denmark and Australia. Though he technically does not work for IBM as he is not on their payroll but he has continued to partner with the company on various projects. Tanmay is very passionate about Artificial Intelligence (AI). After his speech in 2017 in Dubai at the Knowledge Summit he was conferred the Knowledge Ambassador award by the King of Dubai’s Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation. He also is IBM cloud champion and honorary IBM Cloud Adviser.
Tanmay is focus on using AI to enhance healthcare field. He is currently working on a project on neural network a computer system he modeled on human brain and the nervous system. This project is led by Darwin Ecosystems who also happen to be IBM business partners. Darwin Ecosystem is an artificial intelligence design firm.
