TATA Power Collaborated With PETA To Inculcate Kindness In School Children

Tata Power has teamed up with PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) to inculcate kindness and empathy for others in school-going children. The initiative is going to assist teachers in around 250 schools to access material that are part of the association's humane education programme. According to Puja Mahajan, education and youth outreach manager; the program has been in place since 2000 and is used for kids between 8-12 years old. This age is the best when children are able to comprehend what it means to hurt animals. There is proof that kids who are cruel to animals might grow up to hurt people.

PETA US designed a programme called Share the World to help teach children being kind to animals. Compassionate Citizen will be the Indian version of this programme. It is endorsed by CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Schools and Animal Welfare of India. The program can be easily included in the curriculum and many states like Chandigarh, Goa, Delhi, Rajasthan, Telangana have issued circulars to integrate this programme into the schools.

The programme includes a lot of aspects like helping the environment, stopping bullying, taking care of wild and pet animals. The material will be available in Hindi soon. The course will for sure help in animal preservation in future and the habitat they live in.
