Technology, Future and Our Students

World is noticing a shift in the needs of workforce and the changes brought by technology and automation. It will continue to grow much larger in the future in spite of this; the world is not reacting fast enough to update our system of education.

Every year, there is great requirement of problem-solving, creative thinking, digital skills and collaboration. However, these are not taught in our schools. Also, when they teach digital skills, they focus on how to use technology – how to create a document or a presentation – rather than how to create technology. Today we are facing challenges to keep up with the evolution of skills required to solve problems, innovate and succeed.

Schools should teach computer science as part of the core curriculum. Students should be educated with the creative, collaborative and digital problem-solving skills of the future. It’s not just important for technical careers in the developed world, but valuable for every career in all economies. Our schools should teach the curriculum of the future. Already, many countries have begun to adopted computer science as part of their national curriculum.

The work of future may be unpredictable yet there is one thing that is entirely clear that computer science will be considered more than ever before. So every student should have an opportunity to learn it as part of the curriculum.
