The Asthma and Food Allergies in Toddlers and Infants
Editorials News | Nov-29-2017
With increasing level of pollution we are becoming prone to more and more diseases. Even children are not left behind. To determine the presence of asthma, allergic rhinitis, food allergy and atopic dermatitis the researchers did a clinical test on the children of three years of age. More than 2,300 children participated in this study from across Canada. In that test scientists tried to know and analyze the presence of AD and allergic sensitization at kids of one year age.
It is a known fact that the infants who have eczema or atopic dermatitis are more sensitive to develop asthma and allergic rhinitis in the post phase of their life. It is also found that if the child has AD alone, without sensitization to an allergen, then there is lesser risk of developing Asthma. Asthma together with food allergy makes a deadly combination and has a higher risk for future allergic disease in children. The results of this research are useful to predict about the children that may develop asthma and allergies in later phase.
There is an interesting finding that suggests, children who avoid cow's milk products, egg, and peanut during the first year of their life, there is higher possibilities of being allergic to these foods afterwards. It is considered important to understand the child’s problem during the early age of his life even during mothers’ pregnancy period. Therefore, the research can be used to get the origins of chronic diseases in children.
