The Olympic Gold Quest and Vinesh Phogat.

Speak about the movie ‘Dangal’, and the life of Vinesh Phogat flashes across our minds. Story of the wrestler sisters of Haryana. Amazing and quite hard to believe, the Indian state where female infanticide make news headlines, there was a family whose patriarch, Mahavir Phogat defied all orthodox norms of the society and trained six girls to be professional wrestlers.

Vinesh has had participated in many tournament and won accolades for her performance. In 2013, New Delhi she won a bronze medal at the Asian Wrestling championship. She won a silver medal at Johannesburg, in the women’s free style 51 kg category. She represented India in the commonwealth games in Glasgow in 2014 and won the Gold medal.

Year 2018 is an important year for Vinesh as the Commonwealth and the Asian Games are coming up. Post this event, Vinesh is all focused to win a medal for the country in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The Olympic Gold Quest, a nonprofit foundation that supports and trains the best of Indian athletes has announced to support Vinesh who is eyeing for a podium finish in 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Vinesh currently competes in the 50 kg category.

The CEO of Olympic Gold Quest, a former Olympian, Viren Rasquinha, informed Vinesh Phogat will be supported with a physiotherapist, sports psychologist and also a nutritionist. He emphasized that Olympic Gold Quest is committed to provide her with all necessary support for her training and preparation for the big day.
