The Psychology of Happiness in Everyday World

When looking for the purpose of life, people tend to strive for happiness more than anything else. Nevertheless, knowing what in fact is vital for happiness can become a quest that seems like a maze. Happiness psychology focuses on this and other intricate aspects of happiness, which help people to be joyful in their daily routines.

The Science of Happiness
Happiness is not just a feeling it is a condition or a state where you are able to live a satisfactory life accompanied by satisfaction and contentment. In the field of psychology, happiness is commonly described defining it as ‘subjective well-being’ SWB, which defines it as an individual’s evaluation of his or her life.

The Components of Happiness

Positive Emotions:
Feeling happy for no apparent reason, being thankful, calm, and thrilled more often.

Engagement:
Ensuring that one is heavily engaged with tasks that seek to stimulate and engage him or her.

Relationships:
Developing close bonds and relationships with other people in one’s life.

Meaning:
It means to be in a club – at least figuratively – and to work for it and be loyal to it.

Accomplishment:
Employment, education, finance, relationship, good health, having children and, being a good parent, etc.

Thus, these components proposed by Martin Seligman, known as the PERMA model, indicate that happiness has several sides and can be achieved in different ways.

Genetic Disorder and the Environment

Studies show that close to 50% of the happiness level depends on heredity, about 10% on destiny, and the rest 40% on conduct and outlook on life. This means that although there are genes that we are blessed/bane with in terms of-a certain- level of happiness – this is completely negated as a good fifty percent is down to our decisions.

Everyday Strategies for Happiness

Practice Gratitude: It has been ascertained that expressing one’s gratitude for the things which are present in his or her life can contribute greatly to the increase in human happiness. This is where having a gratitude journal is helpful since the habit includes deliberately being grateful for things in your life.

Foster Relationships:
Spending quality time in friend and family relationships and shows that there is acceptance and support in a community.
Mindfulness and Meditation: Savana and awareness helps in managing stress and make one gain better focus on the small things in live.

Exercise and Physical Activity:
This is because exercise is known to have positive effects that include reducing cases of anxiety and depression. It releases endorphin a neurotransmitter that is responsible for improving the moods and feelings.

Pursue Goals:
It enables one to have something to look forward to, and work towards achieving it since setting goals give life purpose.
Acts of Kindness: Being kind to other people can enhance our self happiness because we feel complete and directly adding meaning to other people’s lives.

The Effects Caused by New Generation Social Media and Technology

Thus social media and technology play a significant role in the happiness levels in the society in the present generation. Although it means we can get in touch or entertained by these social tools, we can get easily comparing ourselves with others and thus feel inferior. Technology should be employed wisely and one has to spend some time away from screen and do something that is real and uses actual interaction.

In conclusion, Exploring the psychology of happiness makes it clear that while genetics check a part of happiness and circumstances predetermine a part, the major part of happiness lies in the individual’s domain. In other words, being grateful, developing and maintaining relationships as well as meaningful occupation, and mindfulness have been seen to improve one’s quality of life and make sense of the world at large. Happy is not a state or a place to get to; it is a process, too nonlinear; it is not about being without conflict, it is about processing conflict. Thus, accepting this path can lead to the creation of a better and happier life.
