The Value of Time: How Much You spend Time, is it Really Worth?
Editorials News | Jan-09-2020
All the uses of our time are not equal, and this easy truth can make an enormous difference in life. People that spend their time doing more profitable work make extra money. People that spend their time investing in others build better relationships. People that spend their time creating a versatile career enjoy more freedom. People that spend their time performing on high-impact projects contribute more to society. Whether you would like more wealth, more friendship, more freedom, or more impact, it all comes right down to how you spend and value some time.
If you are like me, you almost certainly want the items listed above (friendship, freedom, impact) et al. too (health). But you cannot have everything directly, so you would like to know the way to effectively manage the tradeoffs that you simply face on a day-to-day basis.
This article explains the way to find out what some time is worth and use that information to spend some time more effectively. Understanding the way to get the foremost out of some time starts with knowing—in exact terms—what some time is worth.
At some level, we all have an indoor gauge for a way much our time is worth. For instance, if someone offers to pay you $0.07 for one hour of labour, you'd immediately decline. Meanwhile, if someone offers to pay you $7,000 for one hour of labour, you'd immediately accept.
On extreme ends of the spectrum, it's easy to understand if a task is worth some time. As you progress toward the centre of the time-value spectrum, however, it becomes less clear if a specific task is worth some time or not. And this is often the problem: most of life is lived within the gray zone of the time-value spectrum.
