The Winnipeg Jets & The Stanley Cup

The Stanley cup or La Coupe Stanley is the coveted trophy awarded annually to National Hockey League Playoff Winner. It is one of the oldest trophies. The International Ice Hockey Federation considers this to be the most important championship in sports. It was commissioned in the 1892 as the “Dominion Hockey Challenge cup” the trophy is named after Lord Stanley of Preston who was the Governor General of Canada at that time. Lord Stanley donated this as an award to the amateur ice hockey club which had the Stanley family support not just financially but the sons and daughters were active players supporting the sport.

However, The Vegas Golden Knights eliminated the Jets in five games in the Western Conference Final. It is quite a hard blow to the Winnipeg Jets as their run through the Stanley Cup Playoffs is over.
