The Winnipeg Jets & The Stanley Cup

The Stanley cup or La Coupe Stanley is the coveted trophy awarded annually to National Hockey League Playoff Winner. It is one of the oldest trophies. The International Ice Hockey Federation considers this to be the most important championship in sports. It was commissioned in the 1892 as the “Dominion Hockey Challenge cup” the trophy is named after Lord Stanley of Preston who was the Governor General of Canada at that time. Lord Stanley donated this as an award to the amateur ice hockey club which had the Stanley family support not just financially but the sons and daughters were active players supporting the sport.

The Winnipeg Jets are a professional Hockey team from Winnipeg, Manitoba. True North Sports & Entertainment owns the team.

Ice Hockey is a fast paced contact team sport played by six players on each side in an ice rink. The players who are fantastic ice skaters use their sticks to shoot the vulcanized rubber puck into the opponents net to score a goal.

Ice Hockey is the most popular game in Canada. The Eastern and central Europe, The Nordic countries, Russia and United states are the forerunners of this exhilarating sport.

The Winnipeg Jets one of the best team is now facing a tough challenge. The team had its first post season win along with their first and second series win. However, The Vegas Golden Knights eliminated the Jets in five games in the Western Conference Final. It is quite a hard blow to the Winnipeg Jets as their run through the Stanley Cup Playoffs is over.
