Tornadoes are Giving Way to Harmful Energy Particles into Magnetosphere
Editorials News | Nov-27-2017
A tornado is a very fast rotating air path that is in contact with both the surface of the Earth and a cloud of great vertical strength. High-energy charged particles from the Sun, and the solar system, frequently move. These frequent activities have the ability to damage satellites and endanger the health of astronauts. However, it is also a boon that the planet earth is covered by a protective magnetic bubble that is created by its magnetic property. Most of the harmful high-energy particles are bounced back through this bubble. This process of bouncing back is called the magnetosphere, deflects. A very shocking result has been published by NASA that reflects that tornado-like wind of space plasma create a boundary that is capable enough to let harmful particles slip into the Earth space. NASA's Magnetospheric Multiscale Mission was launched in 2015. The mission studies how these particles are transferred into the magnetic sphere. Researchers try to get the reasons and consequences of magnetic reconnection when electrons and ions pass into the magnetosphere from the solar wind. Through a new 3-D computer simulation scientists have come to know that the density of the space plasma is much lower than the plasma outside. The magnetopause gets disturbed when the two regions of different density move at different rates. Due to that the boundary squeezes, and plasma tornadoes are formed. It acts as way for the transportation of charged particles into the magnetosphere from the solar wind.
