Vladimir Putin - The Russian President

Vladimir Putin is currently serving as the President of Russia since 2012 and he was also a Russian statesman and the former intelligence officer. Earlier, he held the position as a President from 2000 to 2008 and also the Prime Minister of Russia from 1999 to the commencement of his presidency in 2000. While being the Prime Minister of Russia, he was also the acting President of Russia because then President Boris Yeltsin resigned from the position. He was also the Chairman of the ruling United Russia party. Vladimir was born in Leningrad, Russia and grew up with his family while attending the local grammar school where he developed an interest towards sports and after his graduation he commenced his career as an intelligence officer in KGB. He was posted in East Germany and retired in 1990 with the rank of lieutenant colonel. When Boris Yeltsin resigned from the position of President in December 1999, he appointed Vladimir as the acting President until the official elections take place. In March 2000, Putin became the President of Russia with the majority of 53 percent of votes. He launched criminal investigations in the high business dealings of well known Russian citizens. In 2004, he was elected as the President once again following the first visit to Israel by any Kremlin leader. Putin was prevented from running the presidency due to constitutional term limits and his successor Dmitry Medvedev continued as a President in March 2008 and Putin was appointed as the Prime Minister. In his third term as President, Vladimir Putin was re-elected as President where he made controversial changes to Russia’s domestic affairs and foreign policy.  Vladimir Putin began with his fourth term on March 18, 2018 where he won the presidency with 76 percent of majority votes.
