Tammy's backpack often includes fieldwork essentials, some combination of electronic devices and a notebook whose cover is made his mamaw. He has an iPhone at all times because it can be used for photos, recordings and even scanning documents.

 

A.J. Faas - associate professor and graduate coordinator of Department of Anthropology at San-José University

 

He is currently involved in field work at Mexico, US and Ecuador, so he carries research gear like Sony Voice recorder, notebook, mechanical pencil etc. and field gear such as UNIQLO water-resistant, hooded windbreaker, sunglasses, scarf, NASA tote bag etc.

 

Claire-Marie Hefner - PhD and visiting professor at Manhattanville College. She is currently working on Islamic education and women's achievement in Indonesia.

 

She always carries with her a headscarf as she has to enter school grounds or a mosque at times. She also has closed-toe shoes, aspirin, reusable cups, sunglasses, comb and some tissues.

 

Douglas Bafford - Doctoral Student at Brandeis University

 

He is currently studying evangelical Christianity and its proliferation in post-apartheid South Africa. He always carries a Bible with him. And along with that he always has recorder, notebook and a pen.

 

Alejandro Ponce de Leon - Interdisciplinary ethnographer. His work revolves around experience of being-at-home in terms of forced displacement and migration.

 

He always carries a clock and watch with him. He also has a daily planner to track notes and ideas. He uses Amazon kindle to carry his readings. He also has a camera that does instant photography.
