Women's Football Team Is Better Than The Men's, Says Sunil Chhetri
Editorials News | Apr-02-2019
In a recent statement, former Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri said that women's football squad is better than men's. After all, FIFA's ranking says so and he has no qualms in admitting it that national women's team is better than men's team. The latter is currently ranked 103rd out of 211 countries, after being in the top-100 in 2018. The women's side, however, is ranked at 62nd out of 152 nations.
Chhetri, who has the second-most goals among active international players, praised women's football team for their fifth consecutive SAFF title win. "Extremely proud of all of you. I have always maintained that the women's team is much better than the men," said Chhetri.
The women's team is going to participate in Round 2 of Olympic qualifiers, which are going to start in Mandalay in Myanmar on April 3.
"Go there, and give your best in Myanmar. I have been keeping a track of all of you playing. Keep up the good work," said Chhetri.
Praful Patel, president of All India Football Federation also congratulated the women's team. "Congratulations to our women's football team for winning the SAFF Championship. You have once again proved that you are the true champions. Keep up the good work and add many feathers of success to your crown. Best wishes," Patel said.
