Now the question arises that what is yoga? Well, Yoga has its roots in Sanskrit, the mother of all languages. This word is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘Yuj’, which means ‘to join’ or ‘to unite. In Puranas and Vedas, the meaning of yoga is when our spiritual soul meets the almighty. In other words, it is the practice that aims to create a union between one’s body, mind, and spirit; as well as the individual self and universal consciousness. Such a union tends to calm ego-driven negative thoughts and behaviors, creating a sense of spiritual awakening.

Yoga poses for specific body parts and health issues also have a positive impact on people with specific problems. Other than asanas, breathing exercises entitled Pranayama is also a part of yoga. These exercises are good for our lungs and heart. Pranayama helps in boosting oxygen levels in our blood.
Now, let’s know that how yoga can protect us from Covid-19. According to some researches, it is said that this new covid strain mainly affects our lungs. That means the strength of one’s lungs is very vital. Some Pranayamas like bhastrika, anulom-vilom, Kapal Bhati, etc. not only make one’s lungs healthy but also increase blood’s oxygen level. Other than these, simple yoga asanas and ayurvedic medicines together can contribute to improving one’s immune system.
