CBSE To Reduce 30% Syllabus For Students From Class 9th-12th

Recently we saw the news on how the CBSE Board decided not to conduct the board exams of class 10th and 12th keeping in mind the situation the pandemic has caused in the country. And we are pretty much sure the school, colleges, and classes are not going to resume anytime sooner. The Central Board of Secondary Education announced to reduce its syllabus for classes 9-12 for the academic session 2020-2021 by up to 30% in order to make up for the academic loss amidst the coronavirus spread.

The reduction of the syllabus will be in core subjects so that the students face minimal problems. Also, the board clearly stated that the reduced topics will not be a part of the internal assessments or board examinations. The teachers and the head of the schools are told to make sure that the reduced topics will not be a part of the exams. Since most of the time is already gone waiting for the pandemic to end, it will be hard for teachers to finish the course and also for the students to grasp it in less time.

According to the CBSE board, this decision is made aiming at the development and well being of the students. Earlier, the board also decided to cancel the board examinations of the students after the parents conducted social media campaigns on the cancellation of the examinations. Now too, there are hashtags on social media like #Reducesyllabusfor2020 for the reduction of the syllabus. Reducing the syllabus by 30% relieved teachers as well as the students a lot. A load of studies for 9-12 class students is already a lot.

The unavoidable condition prevailing in the country has hampered the education system to a great extent. Considering the importance of education, this is a huge step by the board. All the educational institutions have been closed since March and there’s no chance of them to open any sooner. While a lot of things have been unlocked, the schools and colleges still remain closed. Keeping in mind all these things, the decision made by the board has eliminated a lot of pressure for the students.
