Cricket No More Part of Asian Games

Cricket No More Part of Asian Games

According to reports, Cricket will not be a part of the Asian Games 2018 to be held in Indonesia. The number of games has been reduced from 439 to 431 to cut the costs.

There were no agreements from the existing cricket groups to include the game of cricket in the Olympics. This step will come as a shock to the efforts that were being put in to include cricket in multi-sport events.  Cricket was included in the Asian games in 2010. It has events for both men and women cricket players. India did not send the team in 2010 and 2014, but teams from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka took part.  Countries like China, Hong Kong etc took part in the games with greater enthusiasm after it was included in the Asian Games.

Now, with cricket off the Asian Games ground again, the future of the sport on multi-sport platforms seems blurry.
