Entrepreneurship in Delhi Government Schools
Editorials News | Dec-26-2018
Manish Sisodia is a famous and well known Indian politician. Since February 2015, he is the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi. He has declared that the schools run by the government in New Delhi will be having the Entrepreneurship Curriculum for the students of class 9 to 12 very soon.
According to him, the motive of this initiative is to build the future of the students. He stated that they have planned to introduce entrepreneurship curriculum in schools right from class 9 to class 12. Entrepreneurship not only refers to business, the motive is to develop life skills, behavioural skills and to impart proper etiquettes into the minds of children so as to decondition them and prepare them for the future. He stated that it is essential to teach the students to dream by sharing real life time stories so that their mind can be evolved. This practise shall definitely help in developing a better India. He commented at New Delhi Institute of Management (NDIM) on the following subject – “Living Mindfully: Initiatives and Learnings". According to him, India has been a developing country for a long time and the reason behind this is because we, as citizens, focus on schooling but not education. People in India, study hard to get a degree but not to gain education or adapt the lessons in our daily life. He wants to bring Entrepreneurship Curriculum amongst students which do not necessarily mean business but to develop life skills, behavioural skills and to impart proper etiquettes into the minds of children. This not only will help students to have a better future but also decondition them and make them ready for circumstances in life. According to the reports of PTI, the minister further said, "We need to teach them to dream by sharing real-life time stories so that their mind can be evolved, and by doing this, we can build a better nation." The Delhi government has lately decided to develop a cleanliness curriculum in order to inculcate the habit of hygiene amongst the students. The cleanliness curriculum is also to be introduced as an activity for the students. But there will not be any book for this nor will a separate period be allocated. The minister has said that he is open for suggestions from teachers and principals about all the activities that can be included in the curriculum. However, in addition to this, according to Manish Sisodia, the government schools will also need to arrange for the remedial classes for the board students from December 28, 2018.These classes are for those subjects wherein the students usually face doubts. Hopefully, this will bring change in students mind-set and habits and help to develop India and its’ citizens.
