Nowadays India is achieving new heights with the help of ISRO Organization. Know here what ISRO is and how it was formed. India earlier in the past decided to go to space in 1962 when the Government of India set up Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR).
ISRO elaborated as Indian Space Research Organisation was formed in 1969 and it superseded the erstwhile INCOSPAR. Vikram Sarabhai, who took the lead at that time after having identified the role and importance what a space technology carries in a Nation's development, put forward ISRO. He believed that it is the necessary direction which will function as an agent of development.
ISRO after then embarked on its sole vision and mission to provide the Nation, space based services and also to develop the unique and sufficient technologies to achieve the same independently.
Throughout these years, ISRO has always seen to uphold its mission of bringing space and its services to the reach of common man and also to the service of the Nation. In this process, it has now become one of the six largest space agencies all over the world. ISRO has maintained one of the largest fleet of communication satellites known as INSAT and along with that a remote sensing (IRS) satellites are also taken care by ISRO. These satellites cater to the ever fast growing demand for better and reliable communication.
ISRO has also worked in developing and delivering application specific satellite products and tools all across the Nation. From broadcasts to communications, telemedicine, disaster management tools, cartography, weather forecasts, Geographic Information Systems, navigation and dedicated distance all are now possible due to ISRO.
Apart from all these technological capabilities, ISRO has also contributed for many things in science sector and its related education in the country. An array of dedicated research centres and autonomous institutions work in general function under the Department of space for remote sensing, astrophysics, astronomy and atmospheric and space sciences.
ISRO is continuous moving forward in the development of heavy lift launchers, reusable launch vehicles, human spaceflight projects etc. and has made every Indian proud with its recent Chandrayaan-2 which was 95 per cent successful. Even NASA is interested in collaborating with ISRO for some projects.
