Nepotism-Is It just Bollywood Problem?
Editorials News | Jun-19-2020
We have been hearing about nepotism for quite a while. And when we think of it, our mind directly shifts to the whole Bollywood scenario.
Over the last few days, the entire conversation about Nepotism has shifted to star kids such as Karan Johar, Alia Bhat to name a few. All social media rage has fallen onto them like a bomb. But we often fail to see that nepotism is not just confined to Bollywood. It’s is everywhere. And real Nepotism has caused a lot of chaos, corruption, and oppression in our country. It cripples everywhere, every profession, at every socio-economic level.
Inherently, in our culture, there is a belief that family will not betray the sanctity of the clan and will prefer to work in the same existing throne. There is an unspoken bond of blood that restricts the entrance of outsiders, even if they deserve to stand out. The belief to keep money inside the family and pass on to the inherited clan is the ultimate and biggest reason that Nepotism has been thriving in India.
For instance, the preference given in a High profile company will be more to their inheritance than a common man, the one who has struggled to get a place in the corporate. It was reported that 15 of the top 20 businesses in India are family-owned. And the money they collectively own is over 26 lakhs crores. And no matter how much they try, how much they are talented, they will never able to join the ranks of the families they work for.
Despite being a democratic country, India has been ruled by Nepotism most of the time. Even in the political world, our county is still trying to perpetuate its rule. It can spring up as a cartelization affecting everyone esp. the sensitive and innocent one, who even struggles to put up a voice in the industry. The nepotism has certainly killed as many as dreams of much-deserved people.
