PM of India Wins the Seoul Peace Prize 2018

Ever since the current Prime Minister of India has come to power and took up the charge of the Prime Minister, he has been doing a great job. He is in news since the last four years for one thing or the other. Indeed he has come out as one of the most powerful Prime Ministers of all times. Some of his great contributions ever since he became the Prime Minister are: (i) The economy has strengthened; (ii) India’s international relations have improved; (iii) India’s approach has become more aggressive towards critical issues which was extremely important; (iv) Increased internal security etc. Lately, the current PM has been honoured with the Seoul Peace Prize for the year 2018. The Seoul Peace Prize was established in 1990 as a biennial recognition with monetary award to commemorate the success of the 24th Summer Olympic Games held in Seoul, Korea, an event in which 160 nations from across the world took part, creating harmony and friendship. The Seoul Peace Prize was established to reflect the wishes of the Korean people and to crystallize their desire for everlasting peace on earth. The current PM of India has been honoured with this prize for his immense contribution towards the growth and development of the Indian and global economies. He brought forth the concept of Modinomics which has immensely reduced the economic difference between the rich and the poor. The final selection meeting of the Seoul Peace Prize Cultural Foundation took place in Jung- gu, Seoul. It was headed by Chairman Kwon- E- Hyock. The Committee labelled the current Prime Minister of India as “the perfect candidate”. The major reasons for conferring the current PM of India with this award were:

(i) His major contribution towards improving the lives of 1.35 billion people.

(ii) Establishment of economic co-operation ties with various countries to improve human welfare and promote world peace.

(iii) For his contribution in stability of the Asia-Pacific region by promoting international co-operation through diplomatic policies.

The current Prime Minister of India shall be presented an award, plaque and an honorarium of $200,000. The current Prime Minister of India has happily accepted the award and has also expressed gratitude towards the awarding foundation for appreciating his contributions. He is immensely delightful at his achievement of receiving this honour. The award shall be presented to PM of India shortly. The date and time are yet to be decided mutually. The committee stated that Prime Minister of India who wishes to make the government cleaner through his anti- corruption measures and demonetization. The Committee appreciated Prime Minister of India’s efforts towards the foreign policy brought up by him under the India’s PM Doctrine and the Act East Policy. The current PM of India is the 14th Prime Minister to receive this honour. Some of the eminent personalities who have been conferred with this award are: Ban Ki-moon; Angela Merkel; Kofi Annan etc. For the year 2018, the Committee scrutinized 100’s of candidates and finally decided to confer the title upon the current PM of India, whom the Committee found perfect for this year’s award.
