
RCEP Agreement Discarded In India

In recent agreements, our Honourable Prime Minister has always taken some vital steps in the betterment of our country in foreign affairs, but this time it’s a clear No! In recent news it has been known that India is going to stay out of RCEP agreement, says PM Modi. He also tells that how the whole process and agreement is against his conscience.
India has finally decided to not join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement over its concerns of not being addressed in the deal.
According to the sources in the government, India decided not to join the agreement and PM Narendra Modi has stood firm on this issue that India's concerns were not at all addressed in the agreement. Sources also revealed that the RCEP agreement with China and Asean countries does not reflect "its original intent" and the outcome is "not fair or balanced".
In his speech while RCEP summit in Bangkok, PM Modi told that India stands for greater regional integration as well as it stands for freer trade and adherence to a rule-based international order. He mentioned that India has been pro-actively, constructively and meaningfully engaged in the RCEP negotiations since its inception. It has worked for the cherished objective of the striking balance, in the spirit of giving and taking.
The proposed free-trade agreement incorporates 10 member countries of the Association from Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) and also six of the bloc's dialogue partners -- China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, and New Zealand.
If we would have finalised, the RCEP would have been become the world's largest free trade area, comprising half of the world population and account of nearly 40 per cent of the global commerce and 35 per cent of the GDP.
