Role of News Channels in Shaping Indian Psychology

Role of News Channels in Shaping Indian Psychology

News channels play a very important role in our daily lives, especially in Indian homes like ours. It also plays an important role in shaping Indian psychology. This is because at some or the other time of the day one can hear elderly members of our family like parents, grandparents or other family members watching news on television or listening to it on FM.

These news channels never or one can say hardly provide us with a balanced report. A balanced report is a report which discusses both the sides of the story or case equally. Knowing about both sides of the coin or both aspects of the story is very important. Knowing it is important for us to decide which thing is right and which is wrong. If we will know the balanced report then only we will be able to support the correct or the right thing and oppose the wrong one.

Now the question which comes here is why news channels do not give a balanced report when these news channel production houses know that they are important in shaping Indian psychology. The answer is money.

Money is needed in huge amounts for proper working of such news channel production houses. These production houses require a lot of money for paying it to their workers; to name few; cameraman, journalist, editor, crew, maintenance workers etc. Along with this latest equipment like weather forecasting systems are also required. Such equipment’s cost a huge sum of money.

These production houses are also politically driven. Most of the political parties, especially during the time of elections try to bribe these news channels to only show the content which is in their favour. Thus, again it is not a complete and balanced report.

Thus, at last, I would say that news channels actually play an important role in shaping Indian psychology but it all depends on us. We have the only power to decide and make a rational judgement.
