The Women Bosses of Indian Football

In a country where unbridled display of masculinity in every sphere be it politics, public life and especially sports, it is always an uphill task for women make a headway. The same is the case with Indian women Football. Rather it is still languishing in the shadow of the Women Cricket and treated even worse.

The Indian male footballers now have been able to receive some recognition but the female footballers still remain in obscurity in this highly masculine game as considered by the society.

However, there are female players who are working hard to make a mark. And three of them are definitely working hard making space for themselves in the field.

Ngangom Bala Devi hails from the state of Manipur. She is a policewoman working for the Manipur police department. She plays as a forward in the Indian Women's team as well as the Manipur Women Team. She was also the captain of the Indian Women football Team.

Sasmita Malik comes from a small village called Aali in Odisha. Her exceptional talent brought her out from the small by lanes of Bhubaneswar and placed her in the National Team. She plays as a left winger for the Senior National Team since 2007.

Aditi Chauhan shot to fame for being the first player from the National Women's team to play competitively in England. She is also the first Indian woman to play in English League football. She plays for West Ham United Ladies team.
