Why Plastic Bags Must Be Banned In India

The use of plastic bags is so much in the trend now a days. As if we go out to buy some groceries, we always prefer to take a polythene bag with us as we feel; it’s more convenient for the purpose. But the use of plastic bags causes a very high cost and negative effects on the wellbeing of human lives. Many cities of different country have already banned the use of plastic bags. Polythene bags do not only pollute water but it pollutes the land as well. It causes numerous deaths to the stray dogs, cows and the other stray animals on the roads. If we talk about India PM Modi is continuously working on the problems caused by plastic. In 2009, Himachal Pradesh becomes the first state in North India to ban the use of plastic bags completely.
The production of plastic bags are consumes a lot of men power and results in less quantity. These plastics bags are not degradable as they just break down into very smaller pieces which swept down into the ocean and end up getting mixed with the water and kill thousands of aquatic lives. And not only aquatic animals but stray animals like cow and dogs often search food in those plastic bags, sometimes consider them as their food and end up swallowing them, which results in choking their throat and causes death.
Sometimes, it’s hard to believe that the rate of recycling the plastic bags is just 5%. Recycling facilities doesn’t have the capacity and proper resources to recycle plastic bags so they don’t accept it. Recycling of plastic bags is considered to be the challenging and tough job as it has a very less recycling rate.
Banning the use of plastic in a particular country spreads the awareness and a message to every country about the bad aspects of using plastic and how it pollutes our streets, land and the water bodies and it also spreads the message of environment protection globally.
