Forgiveness- A Fundamental Facet

“No person is so deep in sin, so ingrained in a wicked lifestyle, or so steeped in evil that he or she cannot be saved.”
When someone you care about hurts you, you can hold on to anger, resentment and thoughts of revenge. But you always have the choice to embrace forgiveness and move on wearing a smile.
Nearly everyone gets hurt by the actions or words of other people. Perhaps your mentor criticized your intellect, your colleague sabotaged a project or you fall prey to someone’s greed. These wounds can leave you with imperishable feelings of anger, bitterness or even vengeance.
But if you don't practice forgiveness, you might be the one who pays the most. A very popular saying goes “An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind”.
Thus, by embracing forgiveness, you can also embrace peace, hope, gratitude and joy. Forgiveness can lead you down the path of physical, emotional and spiritual well-being, making you a more compassionate and understanding individual.
People often link forgiveness with reconciliation but forgiveness does not always include settlement or even interaction with the ones who have hurt you. Forgiveness is a conscious and deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment towards a person regardless of whether they actually deserve your forgiveness or not.
The benefits of being a forgiver are perhaps intangible, and the perks incalculable. In no time, you find yourself high on self – esteem and amidst healthier relationships.
To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.
